New Mutants is an X-Men film, but you would not know that watching the trailer. Considerably eerie, it is as dark as a PG-13 movie can be. The flick follows a group of teenagers who are at a mental institution rather than a cozy mansion. Unlike other superhero movies, this is also intent to keep the spandex at bay. While competitors keep to a uniform presentation with familiar plot beats, X-Men properties have taken liberty with the genre, as Logan looks more like an old western than a mainstream and Legion features a mutant with mental problems. Fox is still big on films, with Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix coming out soon. However, there are also experiments, so no one can say they are all the same.
